What we check
Availability and codes
How availability is written (in_stock for Google, in stock for Meta), Heureka delivery time, barcodes with their check digit, manufacturer code and brand.
Images and links
Images and links on https, complete URLs, the number of extra images, title and description length, and duplicate IDs.
XML and encoding
Valid XML with the line number of any error, unescaped ampersands, character encoding, and whether the server and the file declare the same one.
Frequently asked questions
Which feeds can you check?
Feeds for Google Merchant (RSS and Atom), the Meta catalog, Heureka and Zboží.cz. We recognise the format from the file itself. Glami and other formats aren’t supported yet.
Do you store my feed?
No. We read the feed piece by piece and check it as it arrives; the file as a whole is never stored. We keep the result in memory for ten minutes so a repeat check doesn’t load your site again.
Why does the comparison site report issues that aren’t listed here?
We check what can be told from the file itself. Categories, shipping costs and whether the price and availability match the product page are verified by the comparison site when it visits the page.
Does Portican build feeds itself?
Yes. Every online store on Portican has feeds for Google and Meta from day one, plus Heureka in Slovakia and the Czech Republic and Zboží.cz in the Czech Republic, built by the same rules this tool checks against.
For website owners
The check identifies itself as PorticanKontrola, just like the product page check, and fetches a feed once, only when someone asks for it. It respects robots.txt: blocking PorticanKontrola or all robots means it won’t read the feed. It reads at most 20 MB, and the number of checks per site per hour is capped. This is how to stop it:
